Parable Collection 4

Parable Collection 4 Collin Leong. Feb 23 2024 1. The Rich Fool - Luke 12:13-21 The primary message is a warning against the dangers of greed and the pursuit of wealth for its own sake. The rich man is condemned for being focused solely on amassing material wealth without considering the needs of others or the uncertainties of life. The parable underscores the transience of life and the uncertainty of our time on earth. It encourages listeners to consider the eternal perspective and not to prioritize earthly possessions at the expense of spiritual matters.  v13 - Someone into the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher". Teacher is an honorable and a high reference to someone. He asked that Jesus to divide the family inheritance between him and his older brother.   Sometimes we think what's wrong with request, to ask for 50-50 with his brother? However, he is not just saying it is unfair, but he is also asking for something contrary to the Torah.  In the past , the older broth...

Parables Collection 3 Collin Leong. Feb 15 2024  Parables 3 1. The Ten Virgins - Matthew 25:1-13 (NASB 1995) The Ten Virgins parable underscores the critical importance of preparedness and vigilance for the return of Christ. It emphasizes the need for an enduring and personal faith, symbolized by the extra oil, and warns against complacency or relying on the preparedness of others. The marriage happens after 1 or more years after their betrothal, depending on the groom's father decision.  Before the marriage, the groom has prepared a bridal chamber.  When the groom is given permission to wed, he would return to fetch his bride. The bride would not know the d...

Parables Collection 1 Collin Leong. Feb 14, 2024 1. The Prodigal Son - Luke 15:11-32   This parable is a poignant exploration of forgiveness, redemption, and the boundless love of God. Jesus recounts the story of a younger son who requests his inheritance prematurely, squanders it in reckless living, and finds himself destitute. In a state of desperation, he decides to return to his father, expecting rejection. To the audience's surprise, the father not only welcomes him with open arms but also throws a grand celebration, symbolizing divine joy over repentance.  "A man has two sons" (v11) - the "two" usually represents differences or conflict. It was not unusual to ask for money from the father. It was typical to do so in the "transition" between the father and the son. The younger son asked for cash ("share for the estate"). The older son will have a "double portion", eg the father's house, as he has to continue his father...
